CERAMIC STUDIO in a Historic Barn

Opening Barn Doors transform the deteriorating historic Barn to a jewelry box of community ceramic studio.

Existing Barn is becoming critical condition due to inadequate foundation built when the barn was relocated to existing site. Missing supports is causing structural deformation. No anchors let building sliding out. Site is in the Flood zone. It should be raised, otherwise it is just waiting to be destroyed.

Structural stabilization as well as raising for flood damage prevention are essential. Historic preservation can be done more positively to activate it in a flesh context. Our design preserves the exterior, while activates it as a showcase of the pottery creation using the barn doors. When doors are closed, it is an historic barn. When doors are opened, they exhibit the activities and ceramic works. The deteriorating Barn becomes a magic box for the community.
